How do I pay for my hire?

Payment for your rental car hire is to be made before the commencement of the rental period. We will gladly accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Union Pay and eftpos A copy of the Rental Agreement is given to you upon completion and signing of all of the paperwork and receipt of payment. The paperwork will show the method you used for payment. If you sign your paperwork at our office, we will give you a copy of any transaction processed through our eftpos terminal.

Can I return my rental car early? Will I receive a refund on unused days?

We understand that your plans can change. If you need to return the rental car early, just let us know and we will try and arrange a refund of an agreed daily rental for the remaining rental period. Factors that determine whether a refund for unused days will be given and if given, the value of the refund for unused days, include the time remaining on the hire and the time of year.

Can I extend my rental period?

You may extend your rental period, subject to:
• rental car availability;
• you providing the necessary minimum 24 hours’ notice to us; and
• us receiving payment of the agreed additional rental fees and charges.
Any extension made to a booking will be recalculated based on the availability of rental cars and daily rental rates at the time the change is made. Any changes in your rental may result in a change in the daily rental rate and other charges set out in the Rental Agreement. We cannot guarantee any extension of your rental period but we will do our best to accommodate your request subject to availability.

What are the procedures and fees to cancel my rental car hire booking prior to the scheduled pick-up time?

If you cancel your booking before your scheduled rental pick-up time and date as shown on your booking confirmation, you will not be charged a cancellation fee and you will be refunded.
If we do not receive notice of cancellation of your booking prior to the scheduled rental pick-up time and date as shown on your booking confirmation (referred to as a “no-show”), OR you cancel the booking after the scheduled rental pick-up time and date as shown on your booking confirmation, you will not be refunded

What do I need to bring with me when I collect the rental car?

When you collect the rental car you will need:
• a valid and current full driver licence that meets the requirements of the Rental Agreement. If your driver licence is not in English, then you must provide us with an English translation (which is in a form that satisfies the requirements set out in the Rental Agreement); and
• a credit card which must have your name printed on it and is valid for the duration of the rental period.

What if I am running late and can’t return the rental car at the time stated in the Rental Agreement?

If you are running late and can’t return the rental car at the scheduled time stated in the Rental Agreement, then please let us know as soon as you can. Charges for late return of the rental car may apply.

Can you guarantee an automatic or manual rental car?

The majority of our fleet is automatic, however we do have some manual cars across a few car groups. If you would prefer a manual transmission, please let us know at the time of booking and we will try to accommodate your request subject to availability. Please note that each authorised driver must hold a valid and current driver licence (not being a Learner (L) or Provisional (P1 or P2) licence) for the class of rental car (e.g. automatic or manual) being hired under the Rental Agreement.

What do I do if I have an accident?

If you are in the unfortunate event of an accident with your rental car, we will ask that you do not admit liability in any circumstance. If you have an accident involving another car, you must obtain the other driver’s name, address, telephone number, insurance company details, drivers licence number, car registration and car make/model. Always obtain a police report that will help our insurance company to gauge who was at fault.
All accidents must be reported to a Tripz Car Rentals on 1300 874 792 on the day it happens. You will also be required to complete claims forms with a representative at one of our branches.

What happens if I breakdown?

We are confident about the quality of our rental cars and our team of mechanics aim to ensure that our rental cars have no mechanical problems. Please call the number found on the top right hand side of the rental cars windscreen or contact our booking centre on 1300 874 792. When calling, you will need to quote the rental car’s registration number. Please note that this policy is FREE for mechanical breakdowns only. All other call outs will be subject to the relevant charges in accordance with the Rental Agreement.

What is the minimum driver age?

Each driver must hold a valid and current driver licence (not being a Learner (L) or Provisional (P1 or P2) licence) for the class of rental car being hired under the Rental Agreement.

Can I drive on my overseas driver licence?

Yes, provided it is a valid and current full driver licence (not being a Learner (L) or Provisional (P1 or P2) licence) for the class of rental car being hired under the Rental Agreement and is in English. If your driver licence is not in English, then an authorised and accurate English translation that meets the requirements of the Rental Agreement is required. We also accept an international driving permit authorised by a United Nations Treaty on road traffic.

Can I drive off-road or on the beach?

The rental car may only be driven on a sealed surface, being a road, driveway or parking station sealed with a hard material such as tar, bitumen or concrete. You must not drive our rental cars on unsealed roads, off-road or on any beaches. Charges may apply.

Can I smoke in the rental car?

For the comfort of all our customers we have a no smoking policy for all of our rental car. A cleaning fee will be charged if you smoke or allow smoking in our rental car.

How many authorised drivers can be named in the Rental Agreement?

Tripz Car Rentals includes two named authorised drivers in the rental car hire cost. Additional authorised drivers (from the 3rd authorised driver and above) are at an additional cost. Additional authorised drivers can be arranged on arrival at our office before commencement of the rental period. Each authorised driver must meet rental qualifications, which include the driver licence requirements as set out in the Rental Agreement.
